Location and Access

The 15th IWRDD will take place in "Centre Paul Langevin", CAES of CNRS, 24 rue Coin 73500 Aussois located in the French Alps.

Access to Modane (7 km from Aussois):

For foreigners, we recommend to fly to Lyon St Exupery Airport that is located at about 200 km from Aussois. Then there is a direct train (TGV) from Lyon St Exupery (the train station is in the airport) to Modane (Aussois is at 7 km from Modane). Practically, we recommend to take the following trains (for arrival and departure):

You may also transit through Paris and take the train as indicated below, but you will have to go from the airport (either Charles de Gaulle or Orly ) to the train station Paris Gare de Lyon.

This train is in fact the same one that stops at Lyon Airport.

You may also transit through Turin (Italy) and then take a train to Modane, as indicated below.

All the above mentioned trains are fast speed trains (TGV) and thus you must book your ticket, possibly through internet https://uk.voyages-sncf.com/en/#/ .Booking in advance is cheaper!

You may also fly to Geneva Airport (Switzerland) but connection to Aussois is less easy, unless you rent a car at the airport.

From Modane to Aussois:

We will organise a bus  shuttle dedicated to 15IWRDD participants.

From Modane to Aussois on Sunday, May 27th, departure at 19h00

From Aussois to Modane on Friday, June 1st, departure at 8h30

If you come by road: 

Motorway A43, from Lyon or Turin (Italy) exit n°30 Modane Haute-Maurienne-Vanoise. Continue on D1006 until Modane, pass the city and turn left in direction of Aussois - D215 - 7 km 

Additional information about CAES CNRS Centre

A buffet will be available on Sunday March 27^th evening, for those who will arrive late.

Free wifi access will be available during the meeting. There is a small fitness room and all the information for traking (you can even rent shoes…).

End of May temperatures in Aussois could range from 15 to 25°C, but keep in mind that we are in the French Alps and elevation is 1500m!
